What app do you OSX guys use to edit (highlight, erase, etc) simple images, except Photoshop?

Gimp. Or at least I've tried to in the past on my MBP. I don't really like it all that much, but I didn't give it much of a chance either. It did the job though (once I figured out the controls a bit)

I have that, but I find it a bit too difficult to work it. I'll have to dig through my accounts, and see if I can afford Photoshop Elements. Tried that a few years ago through not so legal methods, and it looked like it could do what Photoshop could.
