I'll try to get this installed some place and get some screenshots for you.  I don't take money orders, however, only PayPal.

I had Michael install mine on a members only forum and it is brilliant.  I think this will become an even more powerful tool in the future.

Michael,

I am very interested in this mod. Just a couple of questions:

1. I assume that there are lang files that can be translated into other languages, correct?
2. China J is currently working on a custom skin for my site. Does he need to take into consideration this mod during his skin design process or will it [the mod] just adapt to the new skin?
3. Does the mod have the capacity to show a venue's location on google maps by just clicking on the right button?
4. I am also interested in having this mod work on a restricted forum. Does that require any special skills, or is it something I can configure on my own (I have installed several mods, but have no coding knowledge whatsoever).

Thanks!

1. Yep, it has a language file for all on-screen text except for the link in the global board header, but the installer will add that to your lang_global.php file.
2. It will depend on how customized your skin is.  It will automatocally create the skin template for this mod for that skin, but those templates are based on the structure of the IPB Default Skin, it might need to be tweaked a bit.
3. No, not Google maps, unfortunately, but it is integrated with MapQuest.  At the time I developed this, the customer who requested it wanted MapQuest, and Google Maps weren't as popular as they are today.
4. What do you mean by 'restricted forum'?  Do you mean your source files are encoded because of hosting your forum with IPS?  If so, since there are no file edits in this mod, that's not a problem.  I can't think of any other meanings for restricted forum that might affect this, it should work in whatever setup you have.

Thanks!

PS An upgrade so Venue can use Google Maps would be very nice... wink.gif

Yes, integration with Google maps would be nice, hopefully I'll have time to do that at some point.

Mod installed and everything seems to be Ok, except for the fact that the mod added the "Venue" link only to the Classic Blue skin, skipping the IPB Pro skin.

So, how do I add the link to the Pro skin, and how do I change the label "Venue" to something else?

Finally, I belive you have added all US zip codes, right? How do I add zip codes to Spain? Do I first need to look up the long and lat data? where do you get that from? Is there a table out there that can be imported?

Thanks!

Your Pro skin must have the $component_links section removed, this mod is a component and like all component links nothing special ever needs to be done to get the link to show up on all skins.  Check to see if you have this block of code in your All Global HTML -> global_board_header template:
CODE
            <if="$component_links != """>
                {$component_links}
            </if>

To edit the text, download your lang_global.php file for that language, find the word Venues in it, change it to what you'd like, save, and upload.

Yes, all US zip codes should be in it.  You can add zip codes via the ACP, but it doesn't have any mass-add function.  I found a (nearly) complete US list online, if you can find one for Spain then an import can be built out of that.

Nope, that block of code isn't there... So I fixed it.

As for Spain´s zip codes, if I do get a list of all zip codes, how does the long and lat info get added? Do I need a list with that information as well?

Thanks!

I see. I have been able to locate a couple of files:

One is an xml file where the roo/parent element is "spain", in the second level there are all zip codes, and the third level there are municipal names and street names which correspond to the zip code parent element.

The second file is a MySQL file containing the following elements: One table with provinces (your equivalent to states), another with municipalities, and another with streets. Since one zip code can belong to varios municipalities there is an idMunicipio field with an AutoIncrement behaviour. Same goes with the streets, where there is a idCalles field AutoIncrement behaviour. With the zip code streets and municipalities are related.

None posess the geographical coordinates, though. You think any of the above may be of help?

PS Do I need the coordinates for the user lookup feature to work?

You'd have to have the latitude and longitude values for this to be much help, those are what is used for that user lookup feature.

Will this do it?

Geo data international world wide with towns, town quarters and postal codes. Georeferences as UTM- and geographic coordinates (WGS84, ETRS89) and elevations. Suitable for branch searches, periphery searches and distance computations. These countries are available: Albania, Andorra, Belgium, Bosnia, Bulgaria, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, France, Georgia, Gibraltar, Greece, Great Britain, Ireland, Italy, Ex Yugoslavia, Canada, Croatia, Latvia, Liechtenstein, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Malta, Macedonia, Mexico, Moldavia, Monaco, Netherlands, Norway, Austria, Poland, Portugal, Romania, Russia, San Marino, Sweden, Switzerland, Slovakia, Slovenia, Spain, Czech Republic, Turkey, Ukraine, Hungary, Vatican, White Russia, USA, Australia, Cyprus and many more. The download contains a test composition of data cutouts of a lot of countries in different file formates and the exact data description. Here the available data fields of the tables are specified: National identification of the country, local identification for the place within the country, postal zip code, town name, town quarter name, local administrative identification (municipality key), geographical longitude and geographical latitude in degree and deg/min/sec notation, UTM easting and UTM northing on the natural and an uniformal meridian strip, Ground elevation over the sea level, 4 hierarchical administrative units, which are superordinate the place. First the data base tables are present in a standard file format (dBase, ASCII / OEM character set). They can be imported directly into MS-EXCEL, MS-ACCESS and in Borlands dBase. In addition the data base tables can be converted with the downloadable freeware program CONVERT into different data formats with the necessary characteristics, selections and sort sequences. For example you can convert the data into the SDF format (Simple Document Format) or into the CSV format (Comma Separated Value) using character sets ASCII / OEM or ANSI / WINDOWS or direct in MySQL.
