very interested in this mod here. Few questions though:

1. Will it work with the Portal mod by BFarber?

2. Is it possible to have the Image Thumbnail a different size then it is on the Gallery Home? I have a sig site, and the thumbnails are rather large on the gallery home but if I could make them smaller it would be perfect for my site?

look forward to hearing back...

1. No, it is an IP.Board mod, not a plugin for bfarber's Portal.

2. It is a complete duplication of the Gallery display, using all the same settings.  There are no settings for just this mod to control that.

Mike, I found that if all the categories are set not to allow guests to view thumbnails, it can cause a driver error (strangely nothing was in my cache folder though)

Not really a bug report as such (as having no permissions to view the thumbs conflicts with the way the mod works laugh.gif ) , just wanted to let you know and it might help others if they have this problem with this great small mod for any reason. smile.gif

Same experience here although I did get the SQL error files in my cache (as noted previously). I gave all of my group permissions the ability to view thumbnails to get around it.

OK, I have found what code I can check for to suppress those IPS Driver Error messages when groups aren't able to view the images, and I have updated the mod accordingly.  To anyone who bought 1.0 and wants the update, just post here or shoot me a PM and I'll send the update out to you, it's very easy to update. smile.gif

Just ordered.  =)

"troyspiral@comcast.net would be the paypal name.  I'm a little foggy on the details of how a purchase/delivery of an item on this site works.  But i have a high level of trust that everything is legit.

I didnt notice the "i need to know what URL it will be installed on " thing in the terms of service info until after i bought it.   It will be installed on my site  http://DetroitGothic.net  (also in my signature)

Just sort of a pre-emptive set of questions:

1.  Would it be difficult for me , or how could i, set the "random" images to be from a pool of images i select rather than being fully random from all the pictures on the gallery?

2.  At the top where it says  "5 random images"  (currently i have my actual IPB setup to display 15 random images inside the gallery main page) is there a way to change that to: "5 random images from the Gallery" and have the word "Gallery" be linkable to the gallery?

I'd like to use the high visiblity of the random images on the main page be a way of training the users to actually USE the gallery, rather than say just hit refresh on the main page. =P

There's an Announcement at the top of these forums that goes over how the mods are delivered to you after the purchase is made, I have PM'ed you a copy of this mod. smile.gif

It would have been best if you would have asked these questions before making your purchase, I would hate it if these issues couldn't be addressed and thus the mod really doesn't work for you as well as you'd like it to.

1. I believe that with some fiddling one could get it to limit the categories it pulls it's images from, but the 'random images' function doesn't allow you to select just specific images; it always uses the images from certain categories.  If this will work for you, let me know and I can try to find the right code for you to use to make this work.

2. This mod itself uses the same skin templates and language files that the Gallery itself uses, so any changes you make to the way it displays on the board will also affect how it displays inside the Gallery.  So you can either change this to affect both, or one would have to create a new skin template and at least one new language string to display this differently.

1.  I think the "less random, random pictures" concept is probably not worth the trouble , at least not for me to impose it on somone.  I have seen several requests about this around on the different boards, maybe specificly as a mod might be useful.  But, just for me as a one-off thing, its probably not worth the effort as its only a minor concern for me.   The way in envision it would be having check boxes next to every picture in the gallery, and being able to make "groups" on the fly of pictures as i see fit.  (or some such) Seems like something that would be included in a "mid range" mod rather than a small one like this.

2.  Yeah that would be fine.  But, i dont know what to do exactly.  How do i cahnge that "X random images" line to what i want?   Preferably to be honest i'd like every single instance of the word "image" to be changed to "picture" for search engine reasons but i digress...   Could you hand hold me a little inot how i can change:

"X random images"

into

"X random pictures from the "

?

P.S. installed the (very easy) to install mod, works exacty as advertized.

Changing the text is as easy as modifying the cache/lang_cache/en/lang_gallery.php file, if you open that file and change the word 'image' to 'picture' in there it should take care of all of those changes.  The specific change you mentioned above is to change this line:
CODE
    'random5'          => '<#NUM#> Random Images',

to this:
CODE
    'random5'          => '<#NUM#> Random pictures from the <a href=\'{$this->ipsclass->base_url}act=module&module=gallery\'>Gallery</a>',

Looks like 2.3 killed this mod for me.    Was working fine... had IPS upgrade to 2.3.    Board seems to be working fine... except the mod is gone.   Should i just re-install it?  Im afraid to screw something up.
