I just don't see how flaming the Xbox 360 and promoting the PS3 in the Xbox 360 Updates thread does any good. I do believe there is a thread for unrelated topics.

LOL sorry, its just so much fun.

Jay lets move this to the PS3 topic.

On a side note for the 360. Microsoft should have a way of telling the player(like the PS3 does) when their battery is low. I was online in a race and all of the sudden my controller shut off and I lost. ;)

Bitter.

Bitter I don't think anyone is flaming the console here. We all share a common hardware issue which in fact is very disburbing. Even the latest consoles have the same issues as the original consoles. Yes MS has offered to repair them under a 3 year extended warranty, but IMO that is BS because technically they are admitting to selling lemons and after the 3 year period we are screwed. So if you buy a 360 console it will only function minimum 3 years which includes routine service by MS?  There should be a class action lawsuit for anyone owning one of these systems to have it replaced for free with MS's next generation console for free.

I loved the 360 before and so did others in this topic, but the mere fact whether or not the system would boot up on next game play or dvd viewing is nerve racking. I'm a movie buff and had to steer away from movie purchases and game purchases soley based on this very issue. The 360 system is not stable nor reliable for the mass majority audience and that's a proven faq.

The controller does tell you when your battery is low. And the screen does as well. If you look at the guide button (the glowing green button on your controller) it blinks and flashes and does a cool dance when the battery is low, and it occurs more often the lower the battery is, and if you want to check how low exactly it is, just press the guide button at any time and in the top of the menu it displays the controller battery level. ;)

I know this but it would be nice to have it pop up on screen(like the PS3) in a bubble or something saying "Battery Low"  just like the icon for when someone signs on.

Oh that reminds, they should also tell you when some signs off(like the PS3)

I suppose that is a personal preference. I like to have as litle popping up on my screen when I am in the middle of a game, it distracts me from what is going on and in some cases could block something on my HUD, unless it is something like when someone IMs me on MSN on my 360 or signs on, like it does do, that is just how I prefer it.

I would prefer the battery low popup too. Infact, MS can just remove that instant messenger user just signed in thing because like me I have a lot of people in my MSN that on a computer it's ok, but while I'm gaming it's annoying. Especially those guys who have their msn setting for 5 mins of inactivity... They are the ones who constantly popup anytime they move their mouse. Or those guys who keep nudging you with:

  • hello
  • are you there?
  • sup?
  • I need your help
Get 5 or 6 people doing this while you are playing Madden, you might as well quit the game. Better yet, MS should give you an options panel to select which alerts you would like to receive during game play.

Anyone got any idea when the spring update is meant to be here. Live has been down quite a few times for server upgrades since April, but no news on the actual update..

Major Nelson said that the update will have a new really useful feature, not sure what it is yet, but I expect the update to go live later this month, early next month, most likely.

So guys, what do we think of the new Xbox Experience update coming this Autumn?

At first I didn't like it at all, but watching the highlights of E3 2008, it looks really, really cool.

I like the idea of saving games to the hard drive is awesome, and will definitely improve load times, and prevent freezing, or the disc acting weird so I can't wait for that. I also like some of the other changes, but what I don't like is that scrolling through the friends list and such will be a bit tedious with that cascading effect instead of a list to just look at, but I'll get used to it. Overall I can't wait for the NXE update.

While I apreciate the abilty to burn games to hard drive (farewell Fable 2 drive noises) i hate the new update. I'm hoping MS give us an option to switch back.

There definitely won't be a "switch back" option haha.
I like it for the most part...but a few things get cut off on my screen, like my screen isn't big enough or something...
And although I like having around 50000 different options for eyebrows for my avatar, why can I only have less than 20 shirts/pants to choose from? Where is the logic behind that?
Otherwise I like the update. Good stuff.

Yeah, you won't be able to switch back. All the old dashboard is gone, the code doesn't exist for it anymore, and they probably won't see the point in doing so, you'll have to learn to get on with what we have now ;)
