If you've got several equal-sized advertising banners at the top or bottom of your board and you'd like to retrieve random ones from the database and display them, this modification will organize the management and upload of those banners as well as providing you with some extra options.

From the Components tab in the ACP, you will be able to upload banners to the server and provide information such as link, site name and whether or not the banner should be available for rotation. The banners can be autosized during upload if necesssary. From a settings page, you can enable the top and lower banner block seperately. You can decide which pages the banners should be displayed on and which groups should be able to view them. If you'd like you can also include a text message. Counting banner clicks is another option. Finally, there are two display modes, plain mode and table mode.

As of v1.1 you can also resize banners after you've uploaded them. You can select specific skins which the banner shouldn't be displayed on, in case the colours clash. Resource usage has been optimized. It's now also possible to just show a message in one or both of the ad blocks if you wish.

Requirements:
This mod was designed to be installed using the Universal Mod Installer, available from IPS Resources or Invision Modding.

Not at this time unless you use the "Global Forum Message" (will display underneath banners using that method) part of the mod to display it. Maybe for next release as that's a good suggestion.

How do i use this mod to replace the top banner ? Putting it beneath the <% MEMBER BAR %> will show the banners below that but instead i would rotate the top banners above the global board header.

Hi Rocky,

this is likely to have happened because you have no banners uploaded and enabled in your rotation pool or because you've specified zero banners on the settings page.

I have five banners under my Images/I directory. Instead of creating a separate Banner Block I want to put the banner at the top and rotate them ( I mean the place where the actual forum banners are there). Can you guide me through the process. Thanks

You mean you want to rotate ads in the header? If you don't want a seperate block of ads, and you can move them anywhere within the board wrapper, then perhaps you're looking for something a bit more customized then. At the moment this mod can only organize banners you've uploaded through the ACP as well.

yups I Am interested in rotating the banners in the header. Can the present version of this mod this (rotate the banners in the header - the location above the global board header) and if not then can you please release an updated version of this mod soon as I have been really looking for something like this. I dont mind uploading any banner image through Acp if it can be put on the top and rotated.

From what you're telling me, it sounds like you want to rotate banners that's placed within an existing template. It might be difficult for me to place hooks within the various templates that could be used for that purpose. I could take a look at how viable it is in the next version of the mod, but I'm afraid it can't happen straight away as I'm currently in the process of moving houses, and I'll be offline for a while until I get internet installed at the new place.

China J has also suggested a autoresize feature for banners that have already been uploaded, in case you change the standard width and height later. Thanks a lot for all your good suggestions along the way and help with testing, Jay!

I made it all like is in guide and i upload it 2 banners and i dont get errors but banners not showing up !

I'd first check that you've filled out the settings correctly in ACP > Components > (OV23) Banner Rotation Manager > Manage Settings. You need to answer yes to either "Enable banners at top of board" or "Enable banners at bottom of board". Then I'd select all groups in "Show to which groups", select "All pages" in "Page to show the banners on". Finally, if you're going with the plain mode, I'd enter 1 or 2 in "Plain mode: Number of banners", or I'd enter 1 or 2 in "Table mode: Columns" and 1 in "Table mode: Rows".

I think you should first try to recache your skin. ACP > Look & Feel > Skin Tools > Rebuild skin set cache on set... > Select skin name > Run Tool
