Any alternative on the same genre but for male and female registred users, I mean, when they register, if its a "she", shows up a female defaut avatar, if is a "he", a male one and a global default avatar for people who havent supply their gender type, or something close to this?

Not without some heavy modification of the tutorial to accomodate that. That's not what this tutorial is coded to do.

I installed this sometime ago and it has worked fine, until now.
One of my members uploaded an image for his own avatar, and it overwrote the default one I have for this tut.
How did this happen, and how can I prevent it from happening again?

The tutorial had you add a file to your forum's style_avatars directory, that directory is not writeable by your members; there should not have been a way for that to happen.

I had altered the path to "uploads/av-24.gif'>";" to use that particular image.
I'll correct the path and move the image to prevent this.

Yeah, that would be something that could cause this. When member #24 uploaded an avatar, it overwrite the one you uploaded.
