The title explains it all, How would I go about putting the portal in the main page (Public_html/index.php?) when the board is in public_html/forums/?

There is a modification called Unreal Portal which makes the portal your main page people visit when they go to your board and it adds a few other fun things to your portal. The mod is in the Downloads section I am pretty sure.

If you're talking 'bout IPB Portal and not 'bout Unreal Portal, see:

Open init.php on root forum and find:

CODE
/**
  * Make the IPB portal your default forum page?
  */
  define( 'IPB_MAKE_PORTAL_HOMEPAGE', 0 );

Change to:

CODE
/**
  * Make the IPB portal your default forum page?
  */
  define( 'IPB_MAKE_PORTAL_HOMEPAGE', 1 );

I think he means setting his main url (http:/yourdomain.com) to his IPB Portal. If so, there is a script for it:

I know it's againt IPB's TOS for me to post source code, but this is only a redirect file so I'm sure it'll be okay.

CODE
<?
/**
* IPB 2.1.0 Portal Redirect file
*
* Simply forwards to the forum's portal
* RENAME THIS FILE TO "index.php" BEFORE
* USE
*/

/**
* EDIT THE CONSTANT BELOW TO SHOW THE URL to forum.
*
* Very simply the full URL to your forum.
* Do not add "index.php" on the end!
*/

# -----------------------------VVV Edit that bit there
define( 'IPB_URL', 'http://FORUMURLHERE.COM' );

#######################################################################################
#### DO NOT EDIT #### #### DO NOT EDIT #### #### DO NOT EDIT #### #### DO NOT EDIT ####
#######################################################################################

@header( "Location: ".preg_replace( "#/$#", "", IPB_URL ) ."/index.php?act=home" );
exit();

?>

Name it index.php and put it in your domain root (/public_html). This will make your main domain act as IPB's portal.

Did you edit the following line?
CODE
define( 'IPB_URL', 'http://FORUMURLHERE.COM' );

yes, and after dinking with it I fixed the problem a while after I posted that.

Now I have a different problem: I need to replicate that page for all my other pages, so they transition smoothly.

I want to have ARTICLES change when I click to other pages, but nothing else. I also do not support frames at all. I just want articles to change, because it will make a smoother transition.
