it is called jailbreaking an iPod, and I feel like keeping mine legit. I am not in too much of a rush to add apps and such, Apple will be releasing more anyway by spring.

I personally have no desire to shell out $400 is it for an iPhone as cool as they are. I'm fine with my 4 year old phone and 2 year old MP3 existing separately
I agree with you. My RAZR phone rocks, but I've just discovered a problem with my old RCA LYRA - it requires MP3's to be converted to an MPY format and I can't find my software. No convertors are online (Googled it) so I may be forced to get an IPOD.

Problem is, I have no clue which one to get, or the advantages of each. ;)

I'm sure you read or noticed, but have you tried Musicmatch?

I have, and have an unlimited lifetime upgrade with it. But I haven't installed or used it in years. Do you know for a fact it will convert MP3's to MPY?

Yes, but you WILL have to use that program to transfer ALL music to the player. Musicmatch will automatically convert it(it should, might want to look under the options menu to check) and transfer.

I know, but I'd rather get an app from Apple more than some guy on the internet, and Apple's apps don't require having to jailbreak.

We just got an iPod touch for my Boss for Christmas and I played with it a little bit at the Christmas party. It's so amazing and I want one so bad. Of course, I would prefer an iPhone, but we don't have AT&T here, so that's not even an option. I wish it had the harddrive feature of the iPod Classic, but I suppose with only 8-16 gigs of space, you won't be using it as a harddrive anyway. If I get one, I'll use it for media and then use my current 30 gig for an external harddrive.

Favorite thing about Touch: Safari Web Browser. Would love to be able to browse the internet anywhere without getting out my laptop.
Biggest problem with Touch: Can't edit contacts from the touch like on the iPhone.

It all depends on what you need.

What do you need more? Do you have a LOT of music? Or do you need something that you might need internet? Or do you not need a ton of GB? Or maybe you have a limited budget? I can help you decide which would be best for your taste since I have like a ton of iPods, of all different generations and types.

I don't see why some people would need a whopping 250 gigs or whatever they offer now, but I hope the touch is upped soon.

Yeah, I know what you mean, I had a 60GB video before I got my iPod touch, and I couldn't fill the 60GB...but not because I couldn't find enough content, it was because that 60GB also gets used on your computer...and I don't feel like taking up 60GB of space on my computer for my iPod, so I realized I don't NEED to keep everything on iTunes.
I have a TON of video podcasts, so they take up more space obviously than music, which I don't has as much of in terms of space filled so far, so I can see why people may need more space than others, but I know I don't. I can live without all those GB...I hope, heh.

Yeah, I love buying my music right from my iPod touch instead of on my computer, especially if I am not at home and I want to purchase music wherever I am. It was a great addition to the iPod touch.
It is only a matter of time before movies, videos, podcasts, etc. are added to the iTunes WiFi Store.

Oh you can? That's awesome!

Maybe it's that you can't add and delete contacts.

No I can add and remove contacts. It is possible you or your friend, or whoever it is using the iPod touch, has not updated it in the last month or something, because an update came out months ago with updated features, and it is possible your friend didn't update his iPod when he synced with iTunes.
