Thanks for posting this...unfortunately, it is not working properly...nothing thinking it is your fault though I think it has something to do with the original IPB problem with 'New Posts' not showing as read even after they have been.
I had a new post, it showed in the member bar as it should, however, after reading it I still showed 1 new post in the member bar.

Does this show posts from private forums aswell or does this function (View New Posts) automatically hide posts from such forums ?

Does anyone know how to reset the "1 New Messages" to "0 New Messages" by just clicking the link ...as normally you need to log in/out to reset it....

Thanx for that ... Is there a way of reseting $unread to 0 with a simple line though??
eg

Go to member_bar. Find:
and replace with:
note: you can change:

'color:yellow'to a color of your own choosing.
