Adobe don't make ImageReady any more, but have incorporated the majority of the features into Photoshop CS3 and Fireworks.

You can still make and save Animated GIFS in CS3, but you can't open them, if you do, you get a warning that you will only see the first frame, and that if you save it you will lose the animation.

But, there is a way, as long as you run Windows.

Choose File > Import > Video Frames to Layers

In the file browser in Windows, type *.* in the File Name and press Enter or click Load.

It will not open any file, but it will view every file without restriction of Type of Files.

Open your animated GIF files, it will show you a dialog box regarding the imports. Press OK to import as default.

Voila! The file is opened in animation frames. You can view the animation frames from Windows > Animation

Thanks go to 'firewalker' for this, found after much searching for a solution that didn't involve buying Fireworks. ;)

I never upgraded to CS3, CS2 works perfectly so I don't see a reason.

This would apply to CS2 wouldn't it?

Can you open an Animated GIF in CS2?

If you upgrade to Adobe Photoshop CS3/CS3 Extended, it does not un-install Image Ready CS2, a CS3 version was not made because they have different products that focus on animation and web design now.

I think he's just posting it to guide some skinners who encounter the problem...
