In case you hadn't noticed it, over the past few months, and especially over the past few weeks, getting to this site has sometimes been difficult.  We've had lots of outages, a whole lot more times where it took several seconds for pages to load, and other similar problems.  Lots of communication has taken place between us and the server folks, and lots of different things have been tried, but the problems have persisted.  I've tried to be patient with the host, but it's become clear lately that we've got to start looking elsewhere for hosting this site.

I have a new host that I have purchased a package with, and I am planning on getting us all moved over sometime in the next few days.  As with any server move, there is the potential for DNS problems.  The board will be taken offline once we start moving over, and I'll bring it back online once I'm sure the DNS changes have propogated to the new IP address.  We've done this before, and occasionaly some posts get lost during the DNS change-over, hopefully that won't happen this time.

I'd like to take this opportunity to thank Bondian for hosting us these past few months (has it been a year yet?).  I know I must have gotten on his nerves an awful lot about these issues, but he never once acted like anything but the gentleman he always is.

Hopefully we have a smooth transition and I won't have to worry about server problems as often as I have been lately, I have enough on my plate to worry about with that. ;)

That is good news, it's been quite difficult at times to get on this site and lately it had been happening more often.  Hoping all goes smoothly with the move.  ;)

I hope all works out well with the move. I have had to move my sites twice in the past for the same type of issues before I found my current host, which really, really rocks and is pleasantly cheap and it was never an easy venture to say the least.

Great news mate.

If I had new this I would of offered you a server from my company, I only offer dedicated servers now from tier 1 network suppliers.

Good luck with the change.

I was on a semi-dedicated server with Jaguar PC, I'm going back to my old host A Small Orange on a large Shared package.

Last Aug I moved from ASO shared because of intermittent pesky server downtime. I'm with HostGator (also shared) now and since Aug there was one problem that lasted about an hour or so. I picked them after searching their forum and finding fewer problems than ASO forum, and they were taken care of quickly.

A quick read of the ASO member forum should scare off anyone thinking about hosting with them, although all hosts have problems from time to time.

For what it is worth I have set up host account for many clients over the years with dozens of different in hosts North America and abroad. In more then a decade of doing the best host I have ever found is LunarPages.com. Hell I have moved all my accounts to them shortly after the discovery and have not looked back since. I have used both dedicated and shared with them and have never had an issue. On the support side they are first class and very responsive. Consequently the value factor is very high to say the least. Additionally they give full hosting & support to any schools that want it from them for free and that simply rocks in my opinion.

I've hosted with ASO before, I had a good experience with them, they were very attentive to me when I needed their assistance.  I think with any host you'll find people that swear by them, and some that say they are a bad host.  I chose ASO because they had a good package in my price range and I have first-hand experience with them.

And now the move is complete.  May take some time for the DNS to resolve for everyone, but hopefully that will all be done in the next day or so. ;)
