About half an hour ago, IPS released the first public beta of IP.Board 3.0.0!

This is very new software for all of us, including the select few who did get access to the software prior to this public release, but here at InvisionModding we're pleased to announce that we have opened up support forums specifically for IP.Board 3.0.  You'll find the forum for this here.  In addition, we have Downloads and Tutorials categories created and available for all of your IP.Board 3.0 resources you wish to submit.

Of course, this is beta software that was just released, and it will change before the official release of 3.0.0, so it's probably not a great idea to go porting over a bunch of mods yet.  But for those who want to get a jump on this new version, we're here for you to do so!

Please let me know if anyone has any problems accessing any of these forums/categories. ;)

I got it late last week.  Have played with it a little, but not very much so far.

I'm personally kind of iffy about it so far.  There are some things I don't like, but some that I think will be fantastic.  Will have to use it more before I can give it my final verdict.  I'll be working on converting my mods for it, we'll see how well I like it after that. ;)

I can't believe there is still no topic preview like vB has!  That has to be the one feature I like that vB has and IPB doesnt...

The instructions are a mess. Directions tell you to run the installer fron [root]/install/index.php. There is no install folder, so I assumed /admin/index.php and got lucky.

Next was the error that there was no config_global.php which I already looked for and didn't find in the root directory: however I did find it in the /admin folder where they have now moved it, when I looked there for the index.php to install.

That got me a little further to the next error: ...requires the ionCube PHP Loader ioncube_loader_lin_5.2.so to be installed by the site administrator. This appears to be an encrypted file, and I'm not sure what I am supposed to do with it. On my current site I had to have my host edit my php.ini file (as I had no access to it) to add a path to the ioncube loaders.

And I can't post on the Beta 3 foum without registering (it's a different forum from IPS Beyond) and they are not accepting new registrations. So I guess I will have to wait and hope someone else posts the same, or a similar problem. Darn! I want a look at it.   ;)

The preview and company forums are converged together, so you can use your login details from IPS (both forums, client center and IPSR) on the preview forum :)

Tried the IPS login, and my Username was rejected.

Anyhow I am getting closer. My new host where I am putting IPB 3 Beta has support for ioncube. It is just a matter of adding a couple of lines to the php.ini file. I managed to find a script for this in my cPanel. However it still didn't work so I checked the php.ini file. The path to my ioncube is gamepursuits.net/ipb/ioncube/ioncube_loader_lin.so. The script left off the .net extension and left out the /ipb/ subfolder.

Correcting those was no help. Any suggestions?

Try replacing it with:

gamepursuits.net/ipb/ioncube/ioncube_loader_win_5.2.dll

Then of course restart the Apache services.

Login to converge > http://login.ipslink.com/ , use your client center email / password to login. Then on the right hand side after logging in, you`ll see the link to the preview site (and you should be logged in when you click it, it may ask for a display name on first login but that's about it) ;)
