I got it late last week.  Have played with it a little, but not very much so far.

I'm personally kind of iffy about it so far.  There are some things I don't like, but some that I think will be fantastic.  Will have to use it more before I can give it my final verdict.  I'll be working on converting my mods for it, we'll see how well I like it after that. ;)

What is on your "don't like" list? Personally I see it all as an exercise in finding everything again (the ACP seems to have changed so much I'm having problems navigating around it all) but I've not been following the development blog etc and have no real idea of what has changed or been added.
Nobody reads this bit...

Links opening in the same tab, gravatar being there by default, still no global "member profile link" template, not enough hook access points, bad IE support.

Have modded my ACP link to open in a new tab as I found it annoying opening it by accident in the same one.

I did read (not tried anything like URL BBCode yet) , that you could simply change that to force all links in a new tab (although that is probably not going to effect the ACP link) ;)

Time for a quick tutorial I think...

EDIT.. I went to add it and there already is one :)

Seeing how I just got mine to install finally without any errors lol... I'm liking some of what I see.  But one thing that I can't find or am just over looking which is a big issue for me is the "View New Posts" link.  If they didn't include that, wth not lol.  What board doesn't have that link on there.  It makes things so much easier for us lazy people like myself.  I was on the test board for close to 30 minutes before I realized I had a PM and a couple of new posts lol.

Click on the View New Content link on the right side of the board and it brings you to a page that has new topics, posts, and a whole slew of other stuff.

Yeah, I saw that after I made the post, and I didn't realize it till later, because it kept going to the Help Files tab for some reason.  I was just over looking everything else lol.

Not even IPS knows when that will happen. It all depends on the amount of bugs in the beta and RC's.

I know there's a test link in Michael's first post but out of interest have many people tried out the beta on their forum? I'd like to see what a custom skin looks like on 3.0.0

Here's the only site I know of yet where someone has made a new skin:

I took a look at the preview site briefly but didn't spend too much time looking around. I wouldn't form any sort of opinion based on the front end alone as that can always be changed easily enough. The tough thing is, I am only just starting to use the software again after a long period of time and so I'm just getting used to 2.3 and skinning for it so looking into the beta isn't worth it for me at the moment.

I'm going to wait until the official release further down the line.

I'm in the same boat I've been away from IPB so to speak for a while now and still in the process of navagating my way round it once more.
Although from what I've seen of it so far (version 3) visually anyway it looks real nice.
I just hope they haven't made it too confusing to use for a wally like me  ;)
