I did want to go ahead and list the reasons why I have made this decision. For a long time now, running this site has taken more and more of my free time that I used to spend writing mods. I had started working on the CSC mod about a year ago, but have not had a chance to touch it in months because of work I needed to do here. This site has become more and more popular over the past few months, which is great, but it's gotten to be just too much for me. Hopefully a little new blood at the top of the food chain here will inspire some change I was never ever to make to get some of our plans we had implemented.
Another reason for my decision to step down was the grief I've gotten over the past few months from the people we've been forced to ban due to their software piracy activities. As most of you know, I don't have any tolerance for the pirates, I can't stand the fact that someone who ripped off either the product running their forums or other software they are redistributing would be taking advantage of my hard work. It's an over-developed sense of right and wrong on my part, I admit this, but a guy can only be told to "f*** off" and "go to hell" so many time before he starts to wonder why he's putting himself through that in the first place.
No, I have it on good authority that m4rtin has no plans to make any drastic plans on how we run things here, so don't worry about that. But there will be some changes, for the best I'm sure. I will let him come here and give any words as the new owner of this site at his leisure.
For my part, as I mentioned I will remain on the staff here. But I won't be as active on the forums here as I was. I have started a new site which is going to just be used as a development site for the time being; I have no intention of starting up a competing site to this place, nor am I going to even post the URL at this time in any attempt to draw members to my new site (registrations are disabled right now anyway, so that's a moot point). I plan on devoting most of my time to things like upgrading my IP.Board 3.0 mods, working tickets in our services system, and continuing work on the CSC component.
I'd just like to close by thanking everyone here who helped make this site what it is today: the premier independent IP.Board resource site. I'd also like to thank all of the members who have visited this site, and I hope will continue to do so for years to come. This site was a labor of love, but it has outgrown what I have been able to put into it. It's time I step back a bit and focus on what I really enjoy about IP.Board: writing mods.
So please join me in welcoming m4rtin to his new post. Let's hope he doesn't get as burned out with the job as I did.
