I have found a new laptop (as some of you may know, I have been looking for one for a long time). As of now this is one of the best laptops you can get (next to alienware  ;) )

I have customized it to my own likings...

I just want to hear your guys' opinions on it.

Nice!  I'm actually in the market for an upgrade myself, and I'm leaning towards HP.  I would prolly get a smaller one (14") but that one is sweet.  I'm sure the screen will be amazing.  You aren't going to go crazy and get the 1gb ddr3 video card are you?

I'm not much of an HP fan. I have my grumblings about all computer brands, but every laptop is for each person's own liking and taste. Congrats on your purchase!

did you actually buy it yet GTA or just picked it out?  Bitter, is there a laptop brand you would recommend?  I've always had somewhat negative connotations with HP since they are Compaq and hated Compaqs.  But from the specs, you really can't beat their bang for the buck at the moment.

Well, none are perfect. They all have their negatives and positives, but recently I got a Dell Inspiron 15, and I quite like it. I customized it to include some great specs and features for a good price. Dell is getting much better in terms of design of their laptops, and I've had no problems yet. The build in webcam is only 1.5MP, but I hardly use it, so it is no biggie to me. Technically, most of the specs on my laptop are even better than my desktop, so I got a great laptop, and haven't had any complaints yet. So Dell is getting on my good side again, but of course, no laptop is perfect, unless you spend some major cash on customizations and upgrades of course. It is personal preference, so my best advice would be to go to a store, or somewhere, and try out the laptops. See what you like/dislike about different brands, and get a feel for what fits you best.

Yeah, I checked a few out and the HP's are pretty nice.  I would love to get another Vaio, but you really do pay for the brand name with them... Not sure I want to venture down the Dell path, considering all the horror stories I've heard about them over the years, but I may consider checking a few of them out.

I know a big thing for me, oddly enough, is speaker sound.  I rarely touch my desktop/stereo and am ALWAYS on my laptop, so having speakers that don't sound like bits of paper flapping against a rock (like the Vaio I'm currently typing on), would be great.  And the HPs I've played with and their Altec Lansing speakers sounded better than I imagined a laptop could sound.

I have used Acer in the past and they were fine, but now I have Mac (both iMac & Macbook Pro) and I would NEVER change back to Windows as these machines are far far superior, and NO problems either like you have with Windows.

I have to give MacBook Pro a big plus too. You just feel the quality when you use it. The first time I opened the lid, I just felt that it was a well-made laptop. And now that I've used it for a few weeks, the same can be said about the OS.

Yeah, I got my girlfriend one of the new macbooks, and I was instantly jealous of it, lol.  But alas, my wallet can't afford another one (or rather a pro this time for me) so I'll prolly be going the PC route.

Well here is a little secret, call Apple (you will find the number online in the education store) and tell them it is for you or your Son as he is going to university and they will give you the discount price, 13" Macbook Pro cost about £685 +vat which is a lot cheaper than the normal price.

I still hold a grudge against HP because the one I had always had something going wrong. And the fan broke down, and it got overheated constantly XD I managed to get some nice burns off of it.

Congrats on your new one though, looks like a very nice laptop, and these days I think that most laptop brands are of sufficient quality anyway. It's just personal preference. I'm a fan of Toshiba, purely because my first ever laptop, well over 10 years ago, was a Toshiba and that thing has survived sooo much without ever breaking. My current Toshiba however, has a b0rked screen for whatever reason that is about as expensive to fix as buying a new laptop, so yeah. You can always just be unlucky.

Nice laptop GTA3Fan

I like HP, they are known as reliable and long lasting machines. Looks like you got a very nice deal for the price you paid.

Mind telling how you get $500 off the price tag? ;)
