Okay... I'm trying to read where it suggest on installing this but it's not telling me...

So, where is the best location to install this?
Onto the domain where the primary site currently is with he sql database that holds all the users?

I've currently got domain1.com.au and domain2.com.au
domain1.com.au is the first forum i made which holds all the users, threads, subforums, etc etc right now
domain2.com.au is the new one, not viewed by anyone except me for now. i've installed invisionboard onto it and setup all the subforums sections.
i would like for domain2.com.au to get all the users from the mysql db on domain1.com.au.

So would it be wise to install ip.converge onto domain1.com.au ???

okay
done the install onto domain1.com.au however, when i login to domain1.com.au it doesn't automatically log me into domain2.com.au yet, i've selected that in the ip.converge admin area.

and when i login to domain2.com.au with the email address and password from domain1.com.au registration, it ask me for a display name.

Are both applications added and synced to IPC?

As far as I know, IPC/IPB doesn't support SSO (single sign-on) yet, so you'll have to log in both places.

i've just got a ticket back from invisionpower...

can't login to one site and then expect to be automatically logged into another site at the same time because of the cookies across both domains.

so question is....
how do i go about making a multi-login script?
there is one on www.gtroc.com.au that i would like to use if anyone knows if it being able to be downloaded from anyone whos made it?

IP.Converge is only to share the members database, so members will not have to register at both sites.

that is about all its does

but in saying that, doesn't it also copy the whole profile to the database so they are identical on both forums?

No. Only the login credentials (email address and password hash) is shared.

IP.Converge can do this if its the same domain, however due to security enforcements a cookie cannot be on 2 domains. Microsoft were the first developer to find a way to cross-domain cookie but a lot of companies are still implementing it.
The option there is for the future (in the IPC ACP)

as for the display name thing, thats because the account was added either at a different website or via the IPC console, so your user hasnt been setup on that forum yet. It still wants a display name.

IPC is a login management system. Its designed to allow you to share access with users of one forum to another application, which obviously wouldn't have that profile info. If you want more than one forum to have the same profiles, more effort has to go into either coding that manually or connecting them to the same database.
If you have a 2.3.6 and a 3.0.x then obviously its not possible and even more effort is required (something I'd love to do but am too busy atm to try)

domain1.com.au has 2.3.1 running right now and domain2.com.au has 2.3.6 running.
was told if i upgrade to version 3 (which im not doing since i go not like the layout of it), the profiles will be shared between the 2 domains.

would anyone have a script or be interested in makin a script to login to multiple forums?

www.nissansilvia.com has a multi login script that logs users onto sites like www.gtroc.com.au and hondatuned.com.au and toyotatuned.com.au
etc etc
