In our previous blog entry we opened the lid a tiny bit on our new project.
Some of you took a guess, and you were correct. It is an installer. But not the kind you're used to with UMI. Not only will this install the mods for you, it will also download it, and move the files to the correct folders in your installation.
And it's not restricted to Invision Modding either. Each owner of a resource site, can send us a request, get the files they need, and become a part of this. Once they've done that, you can enter your login credentials in your ACP, and this site will be listed in a tabbed bar above the available resources, allowing you to browse the resources available on their site.
Please note that it will not be able to handle file and/or template edits. We think it's too risky to implement something that can do that for you. There is a thin line between success and total failure, and we prefer to stay on the safe side. If a modification/application/hook requires you to edit something, you will be shown a warning notice, and you will have to manually download the file you want to install, open the instructions, and do the edits after the installation is done.

Seeing as I'm scheduled for a 4 week vacation in August, according to my calendar, and to get the installer to even work, this forum has to be updated to 3.0 (since everything is written for 3.0).
I'm not going to promise anything, but it'll be at least 1-2 month before we can get a public beta out.

Too Pro... The world isn't ready for it!!!
OH MY GOD!!
But yea, really nice tool, should make it easier for alot of users who get confused, and can probably help enforcing licensing for IPB (as to download it you need to download from here, and to download here you need a active license, and making files exclusive downloads via the system ensures that license holders only can get them)
Genius... Thanks for all the efforts InvisionModding!

I have a working copy of it, and our staff have one as well (at least the ability to download and test).
This is a well known thing to do when releasing/planning new applications. IPS is a great example of that. IP.Board 3 wasn't exactly a new application, but they announced it half a year before the customers got a working copy of the beta. Same thing with CCS and IP.Nexus.

No, it's not scrapped. It's currently on ice. And the ice will melt once we upgrade to 3.1.
