I'm looking into buying a new TV, but I need advice on what I should look for and should avoid.

What is best? LCD, plasma, etc.?
I'm looking for something within the 22"-32" range for a good price, nothing too expensive.
1080p is what I want, but I'll settle for 720p if the rest of the specs are solid, and I know there aren't many small TVs at 1080p.
A reliable brand, picture quality has to be good, and I will need it for gaming, not just basic TV watching.

Anyone?

Bitter.

I'd be interested in this too as we need a new TV at some point soon. ;)

you have to be very careful right now. I've always been a sanyo fan for dependable lower end tvs but I was reading some where that sanyo went into and re-emerged from bankruptcy. Their TVs made before this happened don't have a warranty on them while the same tv made after does and it seems that Walmart is selling both.
I don't remember where I was reading it but it was recently because I was researching some of these so called 'door buster' black friday prices while trying to decide if there was anything on tv worth spending $700 - $1000 on.

Google for 'tv bankruptcy warranty' and you will see what I mean. There are a slew of companies that are defaulting on their warranties.

Plasma's are tempting at the current low pricing but I heard that they only have a 5 year life expectancy.  I'd stick with LCD or the new LED flat panels.

I just bagged a 32" Element from Walmart.  Even though I am a self proclaimed Sony Fanboy...I couldn't pass this deal up!  Great picture and excellent features for a smaller TV.

Some Samsung LCD monitors are very good in both build quality and image quality. I wonder if the same would apply to their TV's...

/random thought. ;)
