I often get random dark grey lines (pictured) where the row borders are in the index and forum pages of my board. I initially thought that this was a bug restricted to the skin I'm using on my board, but, according to the skin's designer, the problem is not with the skin but with 3.1.4 itself. I've tried to eliminate the problem by first commenting out the borders and then by making the borders the same color as the table background, but the random lines persist.

I realize that I could fix the problem simply by upgrading my board to the latest version; however, I've already run the latest version on a test board and much prefer 3.1.4. So even if I can't find a solution, I'm going to stick with 3.1.4.

Any clues as to what could be causing this?

Many thanks!

Like I mentioned, as far as I know, there was nothing in the skin causing it. I've seen it happen to almost all skins occasionally in IPB 3, but doesn't occur in 3.2. Refreshing the page usually fixes it. Or scroll down, then back up. I can't really explain as to what causes it, but I've seen it all the time. It's just as if a border doubles up once in a while. If I still had a 3.1 board around, I'd probably go back and test it out more, but with 3.2 out, I'd recommend either updating the software and using a new skin, or if someone else can verify whether or not it can definitely be fixed through the skin itself, I can take a look into it. This is also a skin-related issue, so I'm going to move this topic to the appropriate forum.

I clicked the link and refreshed a few times and never saw lines like the ones pictured.

The lines also appear in the ipb default skin on my board, so it's not limited to the grey lustrous skin. One of the forums I visit regularly uses the grey lustrous skin and that too has the same problem.

If it wasn't such an eyesore, I wouldn't worry about it. That and the fact that the lines can give people the false impression that they're meant to separate certain posts from other posts. That's what I thought they were for when I first saw them.

ineedadate, what browser are you using? I use Firefox. Maybe this problem is browser-related.

Yep. It's definitely browser related. I installed the latest version of Chrome, which is a superb browser, by the way, and no matter how many times or how fast I scrolled up and down my forum's pages, the lines would not appear.

I use Firefox 3.6.25. The reason I haven't upgraded to the latest version of that browser is that I have some add-ons that are near and to to me that don't work with the latest version. So my options are to upgrade Firefox or go with Chrome.

Many, many thanks, ineedadate, for drawing this solution to my attention. That bug was driving me around the bend and fast.

No problem, I'm glad you figured it out. My skin has a few Chrome/Firefox differences... browser differences can be a real pain, sometimes you think you fix something, but look at it on a different browser and it's even worse.
