Rookie here... Please help. My board was recently upgraded from 2.1x to 3.2 (hey, where do I verify it is exactly 3.2 anyway? and will version 3.x up to mine still work?)
So I'm looking for a little help, and my apologies if it's in the wrong forum (feel free to move it mods)
Modifications to my site: It appears to be 3 different categories now, which looks simpler so here's my questions.
1) I need a shoutbox back, and, it needs to be able to use the emoticons we already have. I want it only on the home page and not every topic. Someone said it's built in, but I'm not sure I believe it, or, see it anyway,..
2) It appears I was not using IPB gallery but someone elses.. I "imagine" my pictures are still there, but who know's. This makes me nervous. I belive I'm going to urchase the gallery licesnse for it, unless someone can recommend something else? (Not sure what I had before)
2b) There was a 5 or 6 pic toolbar directly under the Shoutbox, is this still around?
3) I should make all these changes BEFORE I skin it, right?
4) Calendar.... I spotted an error last night that it wasn't enabled but I have lots of events.... where do I enable, and, will my events show up now once it is?
Ok, that's it for now..
Thanks all!

Will say in the ACP dashboard (the first page) what version it is.
1. Shoutbox for IP.Board 3.2.x > http://community.inv...20-shoutbox-32/
2a. Images are stored as files so will be there just not accessible until you have a suitable Gallery version, you require Gallery 4.2.x for Board 3.2.x
2b. Built in now as a Gallery hook, obviously you need Gallery for it to be there / work. There's also a third party one available but again it won't work without Gallery
3. Nothing you've asked is skin related really so will not make much difference.
4. Calendar is not part of 3.2.x anymore its a separate application, same as Gallery etc. You need to update it. Current Calendar version is 322 (yes, one "behind" the board version)

Thanks Andy!
Maybe I missed it in the first page of the dashbaord but thought it just said 3 , which I doubt since it was upgraded this week... 3.2 is my guess.
1) Thank you for shoutbox link
2) Gallery is optional, so I DO need to purchase a license, yeh?
2b) No thrid party stuff if I can avoid it.... my site changed so much..
3) So assuming I grab gallery, and calendar, will skinning THEN matter?
4) License purchase?
Thanks!

1. You're welcome
2a. Gallery is a paid addon, you cannot purchase it (at least afaik) without your board licence being active.
2b. The recent images hook is locked at a certain number, you may if you did not want a third party solution to look at this at some point (how to modify the hook to show more / less / random images instead of latest) > http://invisionmoddi...age-adjustment/
3. You can start skinning then
4. Free to download if your board licence is active, ie: current support contact.

Ok so attempting to install the Shoutbox... the directions are kinda vague.. so allow me to ask....
""You just need to upload all of the contents of the 'upload' folder to your forums, preserving the directory structure. Keep in mind that if you have renamed your forum's 'admin' folder that you will need to upload the folders and files from the 'admin' folder for this application into the renamed 'admin' folder on your forums. Once you have uploaded all of the files, visit the Manage Applications & Modules page on the System tab of your Admin CP and click the link to Install or Upgrade this application.""
I did rename my admin folder when I used the older 2.13 forums... but it appears that the upgrade by IPS went back to the default. (the old name folder is basically empty now..) . I just FTP'ed in, and copied the UPLOAD folder to the ADMIN folder.... and then followed the directions... nothings there, so then I said let me delete this folder and copy to another directory... ah, but the directories need to be emptied..
So, in English, for a 3.2 rookie.
Exactly what directory is this UPLOAD folder going to? INSTALL that is actually inside the ADMIN folder?
And lastly, are there any files I need to rename or delete once I'm done to prevent anyone else from wandering in and altering things? No right?
Thank u

Don't upload the upload folder. Go inside the upload folder and upload those contents to your forum foot directory. They will upload themselves to the correct locations they need to be in on their own.
There shouldn't be anything you need to delete for mods. Only when installing IPB itself you need to delete the install file, so there's nothing to worry about deleting here.

I'd agree, it sounds like you've uploaded the 'upload' folder. You need to upload its contents, not the folder itself.

I'm dieing here guys... this should be easy, and it will be eventually.
Inside the "upload" folder from the Shoutbox mod is ADMIN and PUBLIC...
If I FTP to my site, I have my FORUMS folder and inside it the ADMIN folder along side ADMIN_OLDADMINFOLDER (Which I'll now ignore since it's old).
So, inside the ADMIN folder I already have an INSTALL and an UPGRADE folder.... so since the Shoutbox mod uses an ADMIN folder too, I'm a little nervous as to what LEVEL folder I need to copy the MOD too...
Again, I appreciate the help...

Drag the admin and public folders (from inside the shoutbox's upload folder) to your forums folder. It won't overwrite anything as you don't have Shoutbox, it will say those folders exist (as they do as board has them) but that's it.
If you're really unsure, take a backup first.

Here's a way to visualize it. On your computer's side, go into the upload folder. Inside you have ADMIN and PUBLIC.
Now make sure on your website, you are inside your FORUMS directory. Don't do anything else in there.
Now go back to your computer's side, and select both the ADMIN and PUBLIC folders. Right click and hit transfer, or drag and drop, however you normally FTP the files to your website's side. Don't put them in any other folder. Just uplaod them to your forum's root directory. They will organize themselves into the proper location.

So, take the NEW ADMIN FOLDER from the SHOUTBOX mod and overwrite the EXISTING ADMIN folder, which is POPULATED with:
api, applications, application add on, extensions, install, js, setup, skin_cp,sources and upgrade..
ARE YOU SURE?

Hitting "Overwrite" may delete the content of the folder before it starts the upload. That's how the FTP application I use functions. When a folder with the same name is found, I get the options to MERGE or REPLACE. What option you choose depends on the options you get.
When files with the same name is found you'd want to overwrite these, to ensure you have the most recent version.

(Here I click "Apply to all" and "Merge")
