Basic update for custom skins on 1.4.x

How to fix missing images on skins

You may find on custom skins (more so the ones designed before Blog 1.4) cause your Blog to look messy due to missing images and css added in 1.4.

The obvious solution is to seek an updated skin from the author, but where that is not possible, I have found this method will at least restore things to a sensible state. ;)

Firstly, if you do not have the default "Classic Blue" any more, re-install it by clicking the very top right button on the Skin Manager to create a new skin set. If necessary hide this from your members.

Take a backup of your custom skin(s) via the skin manager (it is always best to be safe)

Connect via FTP. Open /style_images/ (either the Classic Blue or the Pro Skin) /

Download (do not move any files, just download copies to your desktop) , these folders and all the files inside...

    /blog (and files inside)
    /blog_bookmarks (and files inside)

    and these files...

    /blog_css.css
    /dheader_settings.xml

View your custom skin(s) folder /style_images/ (skin name) , now upload these folders / files you downloaded to your desktop a few minutes ago. Do not choose over-write if you are asked, just let it replace what is missing.

If you re-created the Classic Blue skin just for this tutorial, you may now remove it from the Skin Manager if you wish to (although I recommend leaving it for future use)

Now view your blog using your custom skins again. Now they should work :)
