Upgrading impossible with leftover blog module

    08 April 2012 - 01:47 AM

    IP.Board 3.1.4
Trying to upgrade the forum to 3.2 or 3.3 I run into the same problem, Uploading 3.3 produces the following error during the upgrade:

    Quote

Fatal error: Class 'version_class_blog_20000' not found in /home/public_html/admin/setup/applications/upgrade/sections/apps.php on line 349

This looks related to IP.Blog, and I have tried everything I can think of to get around this problem.

    1. Have attempted to remove the blog application as it no longer needed, but it produces a database error.

    2. After restoring the 3.1.4 files, I have tried to upgrade the blog software to version 2.3.2 which I believe is the last version for 3.1.4, that produces errors and won't complete

    3. Have tried to upgrade the blog software to earlier versions also, that produces errors and won't complete.

    4. Have deleted the blog tables, and that still doesn't allow a 'fresh' blog upgrade

Then restoring the tables and looking at the 'installed applications' within the admin cp it shows version 1.4.2 upgrade available, however the 'ibf_blog_upgrade_history' table in phymyadmin shows version 1.3.2 at the end of the list of upgrades (not sure if related)

So my question is how to really get this blog software completely removed (as it no longer needed) so that I can upgrade the IP.Board to 3.3 ?

Thank you for any ideas or suggestions.

    RESOLVED: IP.Board 3.2.3 to 3.3 beta 2

    04 March 2012 - 09:09 AM

I upgraded our test forum with the latest beta to take a peak. During install there was an interesting option which I left checked by default:

    Quote

Flag all members in the Banned member group as banned
3.3.0 removes the need for a specific Banned Group and uses the built in 'flag' on a per-member basis. However, unless you choose to update all members in the current Banned Group as 'banned' they may not appear when searching for banned members in the ACP.
We recommend you keep this box ticked

I find this new approach interesting, maybe we can discuss that further, but one thing I noticed off the bat is all the existing topics and any attempts for new topics receive the following error message:

    Quote

Fatal error: Call to undefined method app_forums_classes_topics::topicSetData() in /home/test/public_html/admin/applications/forums/sources/classes/topics.php on line 1993

tried re-caching all, re-sync all topics, turning mod rewrite on and off, still same error. I realize this is just a beta and IM may have not had a chance to test things, but does the error message above look familiar ? btw, categories open fine, its just the topics that produce this error.

    Thanks.

Spammers are the scum of the earth

    24 February 2012 - 06:09 AM

This is getting crazy, I have the hook that checks the IPs and usernames of known spammers, some questions and answers (trying to keep it simple enough not to blow out low IQ new members) and now I'm being flooded again with spammers. I have been using IP.Board since version 1.3 and swear by this software as the best but this is out of control.

I still have 15 of 17 pages of lists of new members to manually change the group to banned, delete all the spam posts, because of the scumbag that went ballistic on one of my forums I didn't check for a few months. That is just one step, I still have to manually go through and delete the posts that are hiding now that I didn't do this right away and they are pushed way back.

Anyway, i would give my left nut for a tool that could simplify some of this or at least wish 'Michael' the master of mods would take a thousand of my dollars to design something to simplifiy or if IPB would realize there are tools out there that are making script kiddies into spam nazis with a few clicks and a proxy list.

ok, end of rant, if there is a question anywhere in the above it's is anyone experiencing the level of frustration on their boards ?

    mass spammer removal tool

    12 February 2012 - 12:51 PM

One of my forums (IP.Board 3.2) I haven't checked on in a few months was just flooded with spam, thousands of accounts with spam posts all over the place. If it wasn't so long i could have restored a backup but that isn't an option.

I am currently picking through the topics in one window and finding the name over in the admin cp, banning them, and deleting all posts from within the admin cp. Quite a few steps.

Would tagging them as a spammer within the topics be a better solution, which would make all of their topics invisible ?
And then finding a tool to remove all the invisible posts on the entire forum?

    Suggestions or tools recommended appreciated.

    RESOLVED: Reputation

    11 February 2012 - 06:00 AM

I noticed on IP.Board 3.2 the Reputation is now a  'Like This' button. What happened to the negative button, if someone doesn't like the post, this is now missing.
